16 Nov First Photos with the Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN | Contemporary
We received our pre-production sample of the new Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary lens just before the ProFusion show in Toronto last week and had an overwhelming number of visitors to the booth interested in seeing the lens.
If you haven’t heard, the Sigma 16mm f1.4 Contemporary is the second lens in the Sigma DC DN Contemporary range, joining the 30mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary. These lenses are available in the Sony E-mount and the Micro Four-Thirds mount, providing APS-C photographers and affordable alternative while maintaining an f/1.4 aperture for impressive shallow depth of field and low-light performance. On an APS-C sensor, the 16mm has an equivalent field of view to a 24mm lens, and a 32mm lens on the Micro Four Thirds system. It is full compatible with autofocus systems, and even supports Eye-AF tracking on the Sony system.
Our sample images below were shot with the Sony a6300 in RAW and converted in Adobe Lightroom with colour work from Really Nice Images. No distortion, chromatic aberration, or vignetting correction has been applied.
Just like most photographers, we bribe our dogs into being test subjects with delicious treats when a new lens arrive. The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary is expected to begin shipping in December with a suggested retail price of $599.95.
