Al Eagleton

Al Eagleton is the founder and owner of Instinct Skis in Rossland, B.C. Al didn’t set out to build a ski company. He started teaching woodworking in a local school, but he tends to get carried away. ON SET

“We shot everything with natural light inside and out. We chose to keep everything handheld to mimic the handmade nature of Al’s work. We wanted Al to feel comfortable, so we didn’t do very many ‘setups’ or ‘retakes’ and chose to just capture Al while he was working. This meant we missed a few shots and would have to wait till the next day, but it was helpful for Al getting into his groove. By the end of the shoot I had a pretty solid knowledge of what goes into making a ski (a lot), and I knew what my next set of skis would be. Without a doubt.”

Shot on the RED Epic-W 8K and Sigma Art lenses.
